The beginning of the story makes absolutely no sense. The h turns down the antagonists marriage proposal, but is so naive and actually dumb enough to allow the antagonist to get her drunk, and coerced her to get all decked out in a wedding gown for a "pretend wedding"?! Seriously, with all the doubts she had of the cad. The writing prose is very stilted and the pov's do not flow well. Very jumbled. You mostly get the story from the female h, nothing much from the hero. The novel needs majoring editing.Product details

A Knight to Remember Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Series Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Cynthia Luhrs Kristina Blackstone Books Reviews
All I can say is, I'm glad this book was free. I only read 33% and had to drop it. Not everyone in the South has a housekeeper. The main character has an Aunt Pittypat? Stole that from Gone With The Wind. The only action so far is her puking several times. A total waste of time.
The storyline was a good idea and I enjoyed it, but the story was very predicatable and the characters not complex and sometimes annoying. I have read or started to read many books on where the wirting was so horrendous and the story so poorly developed I couldn't get through the book, this is not one of those books, nor is this one of the super short stories that takes 30 minutes to read and is being sold as a book. This book is however short and can be read in an evening easily, but you can purchase book 2 and 3 making the story the length of fiction books before digital books. If you are looking for a good clean time travel story, this book will be spot on.
I'm sorry, but it's beyond my comprehension how anyone could have enjoyed this story enough to rate it more than one star. There are way too many gaps throughout this book. Even for a time travel story, the way events take place are ridiculous. Lucy acts immature and ignorant most the time. "I'll just make sugar cookies and if I don't get my way, you won't get any!" William doesn't conduct himself like a leader or a knight. The curse or cure regarding Simon was never revealed. Clement's identity and actions were obvious from the beginning. What exactly did happen to Alan? And what's with the crow?
As for my opinion about this book? I have to say it was one of the least favorite stories I've ever read. If I could go back in time, I would have never wasted my time reading it.

My Rating Four Delightfully Entertaining Stars****
Several days ago I happened upon a free download from for a time travel romance. Well, that got my attention. I adore time travel, completely smitten with medieval English knights, totally enamored with any genre that contains romance and always a sucker for a free read. Admittedly, I'd never heard of Cynthia Luhrs but at the time, it had 56 reviews with the majority of them being positive. I even read the free sample which never includes much but does give me a general feel for the author's overall style and flow. I can generally glean sufficient information from the first few pages, allowing me to make an informed decision about the book. Obviously, I was duly impressed and decided to give Cynthia Luhrs an opportunity to entertain me for a few hours. And that she did! A Knight to Remember is the first release in a three novel collection entitled the Merriweather Sisters Time Travel Series. This book is a full-length standalone coming in at 233 actual numbered pages and does NOT include a cliffhanger. I found the story to be imaginative, fast-paced, easy to follow, well-crafted and exceptionally well edited. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with primary perspectives from the two protagonists, beautiful introverted Lucy Merriweather from present day North Carolina and handsome, gruff, medieval knight William Brandon, now Lord of Blackford. But we also get a small peek into the twisted envious mind of the antagonist, dastardly Clement Grey, childhood friend and current Steward of Lord Blackford. There is a second antagonist, Simon Grey who is Lucy's boyfriend and the present day Lord of Blackford, but I don't recall there being a perspective from him included in the story, just from his evil ancestor Clement. Obviously, since the heroine travels 700 years into the past to the year 1307, the story also includes a historical element. Not much, but enough to be convincing which I thought was well done. Historical romance has never been my favorite genre simply because I'm unfamiliar with the correct use of language and terminology but I was able to easily follow the dialogue in this story which I found to be well executed, realistic and at times, quite humorous. But without a doubt, my favorite component of this story is the fascinating cast of characters. I thought them to be interesting as well as very engaging. If I'm not drawn into a story by its characters, then it's usually a deal-breaker for me but I found myself immediately liking Lucy Merriweather and completely caught up in her plight. As a born and bred Southern Belle myself, it was easy for me to identify with the naive and inexperienced young woman who was more the shy bookworm and homebody than the experienced outgoing debutante girlfriend type. Although this story is classified as a romance, there was very little romance. lol... And there was no sex at all...zip... none...nada. There was heated attraction, obvious mutual attraction and quite a few steamy kisses but that's pretty much it. Hey, what can I say? I like a little sex to spice things up and was somewhat disappointed to discover there was none. Generally, I only read romance that at least includes a little sex but I truly didn't notice there were no sex scenes until after I finished the book. lol... And what does that tell me? That the author did a fabulous job of entertaining me and surprisingly, without any sex. Color me impressed! There were a few curse words and I do mean very few; I could count them on maybe four fingers. So, yes, I would agree with the author's rating, this book is a safe read for young adults, twelve and older.
When rating and reviewing a book, there are always several questions I ask myself. First, did I like this book? Absolutely! Second, was there anything I didn't like about the book? Not really. In some of the reviews, there seemed to be some confusion over the actual time travel aspect of the story. Hey, folks, this is fiction, and time travel isn't real, so it stands to reason it may be a little confusing. Actually, I think I understood it rather well since there was also a slight supernatural spin on the events. It's really simple but I'm a simple sort of girl. There was a terrible storm with a lot of lightning that apparently opened a time portal and there was a curse involving the location of events, past and present which are explained in the book. Obviously, there were paranormal forces at work as well and those were never really explained. It was all a bit mysterious but all time travel is a bit mystical and perplexing, don't you think? Again, it's not supposed to be realistic, it's fiction simply meant to entertain. I don't want to give spoilers but the only plot hole I found was the fact a curse was mentioned but we never found out who actually cast the curse. We found out why but not by whom. Third, would I recommend this book? You bet! If you're in the market for a sweet time travel romance, then I suggest giving it a try. Fourth, will I read this author again? I can honestly say, this may have been my first time reading Cynthia Luhrs work, but it definitely won't be my last. And finally, was I entertained? Completely entertained. Once I began reading, I was immediately drawn into the story and could not stop until I reach the end. It was several hours well spent and which I enjoyed immensely. Great entertainment!
I cannot understand the good reviews for what is essentially a poorly drafted short story. The plotline had promise but the lack of coherent sentence structure had me moving back and forth thinking I had advanced my kindle too far from the bookmark.
It felt as if whole sentences were missing within chapters and there was no smooth transition between the chapters.
I now understand why this was free.
